Objectives

Objectives of the department include:

  1. the preparation of professionals for careers in rehabilitation and related human services occupations serving the general population and people with disabilities and communication disorders
  2. providing graduate education in nationally accredited programs in counseling, speech-language pathology and school psychology.
  3. and the preparation of leaders for elementary and secondary schools.

Admission Requirements

Communication Sciences and Disorders

Students requesting admission to the Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders program must meet the following criteria:

  1. Acceptance to SFA
  2. Overall GPA of 2.75 in college work
  3. Completion of the following prerequisite courses with a grade of B or higher: CSDS 2300 , CSDS 2310  and CSDS 2320 

Students will not be permitted to register for advanced communication sciences and disorders courses unless they have completed and met the minimum requirements in the prerequisite courses and have been admitted to the Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders program.
