General Agriculture, Animal Science, B.S.A.G.

The field of animal science provides exciting and challenging opportunities for graduates desiring to pursue careers in animal production, animal health or health services, feed formulation and manufacturing, processing/further processing and the marketing of animals and animal products. Specialty areas include beef cattle science, poultry science, swine production, equine science and pre-veterinary medicine.

2. Major course requirements
are listed under course requirements for each major. Twenty-one hours must be advanced with 12 advanced being completed at SFA.
3. Enough additional hours
to total 120. This total shall include a minimum of 42 hours of residence credit of which 36 must be advanced.
4. Students must meet minimum standards
related to student success initiatives mandated in legislation. Maintenance of a C average in coursework completed at SFA and coursework completed at SFA in the major and minor fields considered separately.
5. A grade of at least C
in each freshman English course; a C average at SFA; a C average in major courses taken at SFA; a C average in minor courses taken at SFA. These required averages are based on those courses in each category that are included in the student’s official degree plan.
