The granting of the M.F.A. is based upon achievement of professional competence and mastery in at least one area of studio art.
Mastery implies a high level of knowledge and skill in the theoretical, historical and technical aspects of art production. Such mastery is the basis of quality in higher education and in the general culture, and from this base careers in either category should be accessible. M.F.A. candidates are required to pass the thesis exhibition defense and make a public presentation of their work no later than one week before the thesis defense.
