The School of Art  graduate filmmaking program is inherently interdisciplinary and is designed to provide advanced studies for film students seeking the Master of Fine Arts. The mission of the MFA program is to develop filmmakers who may obtain professional status in the independent media, industrial media, entertainment industry or academic communities. The program also encourages work that is aesthetically challenging and seeks to develop filmmakers who will express a personal voice through their work. Specialized areas of filmmaking, such as cinematography, screenwriting, production design and audio, may be chosen in consultation with the graduate film program advisor, who will recommend specific courses.

Filmmaking Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are the same as for the MA or MFA in art except that applicants must submit a DVD or online link of movies they have created, movies of which they had a major role in its production, a portfolio of scripts, a portfolio of production design artwork, or any combination of the above.

Filmmaking Curriculum

Total: 60 hrs.
