Thesis optional: Yes

The Master of Science in natural and applied sciences is an interdisciplinary degree program offered through the College of Sciences and Mathematics . Either a thesis or a nonthesis option may be pursued. Upon entering the program, graduate students will be assigned to a graduate faculty committee to design a degree plan and to oversee their specific program of study, including development and administration of pertinent culminating projects and examinations.

The following is a list of areas of concentration for this degree.  The student will select one area of interest to pursue.  Unless otherwise noted, the student may select one of these areas for either the non-thesis or thesis track.

Department Requirement


Complete 18 hours of coursework from the department of interest.

College of Sciences and Mathematics Requirement


Complete 6 hours of coursework from any department within the College of Sciences and Mathematics.

Select one of the following to complete this degree:

Non-Thesis Track


General Electives


Complete 12 hours of general graduate level electives.

Comprehensive Exam


Complete a comprehensive exam (oral, written or both).

Thesis Track


General Electives


Complete 6 hours of general graduate level electives.

Thesis


Complete 6 hours of thesis coursework.
