Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Program Offerings (A-Z)

The minor in social welfare is primarily intended for students who plan to enter a human services related field or who are simply interested in social work because of its significance to modern society. It addresses major social problems and issues that challenge the helping professions. Additionally, the social welfare minor is designed for students interested in the general social welfare field who do not plan to enter into professional social work practice.

It consists of 18 semester hours of social work. Advising for minors will be at the School of Social Work .

Students who are majoring in a field of study other than social work are eligible for this minor. The purpose of this minor is to prepare students who are interested in working in social services particularly with children in various settings.
