Pedagogical Techniques of Physical Activities, Minor

This minor is open to students majoring in kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science, students in public health, and any students outside the department of kinesiology and health science. Its primary objective is to enrich the pedagogical knowledge of students majoring in kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science by providing essential pedagogical content. Additionally, this minor is advantageous to students from diverse academic backgrounds, including public health, dance, and other non-kinesiology fields, who are interested in pursuing teaching certification in physical education. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the requisite knowledge to successfully pass the Texas teaching certification exam in physical education. For students concentrating in exercise science, this minor prepares them with pedagogical skills necessary for professional roles in coaching, fitness, strength and conditioning, cardiac rehabilitation, and physical and occupational therapy. Coursework in the minor incorporates the application of teaching and instructional elements, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future professional roles.

Total hours: 18


Six hours of advanced coursework must be taken in the Minor at SFA for the residency requirement.
