Deaf and Hard of Hearing Minor

A deaf and hard of hearing minor can be acquired by taking the following courses:

• DHH 350 - Access to the Phonemic Code Credit(s): 3
• SPH 274 - Foundations in Deaf Education Credit(s): 3
• SPH 414 - Deaf Culture Credit(s): 3
• SPH 470 - Language and Literacy for the Deaf Credit(s): 3
• SPH 477 - American Sign Language III Credit(s): 3
• SPH 479 - American Sign Language IV Credit(s): 3

  Twenty-five hours of observation in deaf education settings may be substituted for SPH 470 .

Observation hours must be divided as follows:

• 10 hours at the elementary level
• 10 hours at the secondary level
• and five hours at any level.

Observation hours must be appropriately documented using an observation log provided by the deaf and hard of hearing program.
