Supplemental Certificates

Any supplemental certificate must be added to a valid Texas certificate based on a bachelor’s degree and will match the grade level of the base certificate.

1. Bilingual Supplemental Certificate

Undergraduate Course

SPA 475 - Advanced Independent Studies Credit(s): 1-3 (one hour)

Graduate Level Courses

The following graduate level courses are required:

ELE 506*

ELE 507*

*These courses must be taken in sequence.

TExES

Pass the TExES Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Test (BTLPT) and

the TExES Bilingual Supplemental exam.

2. ESL Supplemental Certificate

Graduate Level Courses

*These courses must be taken in sequence.

Pass the TExES English as a Second Language Supplemental exam.

3. Special Education Supplemental Certificate

This certificate will also match the subject of the base certificate.
