The Master of Science in environmental science is designed to provide students with both the breadth and depth needed to for successful career in the broad field of environmental science. Graduates of the program are employed in industry, environmental consulting, government agencies and educational institutions. Graduates also are well prepared for further graduate education in environmental science or related fields.
Objectives of the Division
The Division of Environmental Science is a collaborative unit of the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture and the College of Sciences and Mathematics. The objectives of the Division of Environmental Science are:
- to provide superior education programs in environmental science that produce graduates capable of understanding and addressing the complex environmental problems facing modern society
- to conduct research directed at developing an understanding of and finding solutions to environmental problems.
- and to provide outreach and service in environmental science.

Graduate Assistantships
A limited number of graduate assistantships are awarded through the division. The application form for the assistantships is provided on the SFA Office of Research and Graduate Studies website. Completed assistantship applications should be submitted to the Division of Environmental Science, Stephen F. Austin State University, P.O. Box 13073, SFA Station, Nacogdoches, TX 75962. Additional assistantships may be available from research funding provided through individual faculty members involved in the program.
