Business Common Requirement
General Business Major
The student interested in General Business may choose to complete the General Business, Major requirements or one of the following emphases.
General Business (On-Line)
The online B.B.A. in general business allows students who have completed certain required courses and/or equivalents to finish the last two years or more of a degree program through web-based classes. The general business major includes courses selected from various academic disciplines within the Nelson Rusche College of Business . The program is designed for students who are limited by time and distance in their options for completing the B.B.A. The B.B.A. at SFA is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, the premier accreditation agency for programs in business.
Teacher Certification
Effective fall 2016, the general business major with an emphasis in teacher certification is no longer available at the undergraduate level. A student interested in seeking a teaching certificate in business and finance 6-12 or technology applications EC-12 will major in general business. Major courses will be tailored to fit the needs of the certification area the student plans to seek. After graduation, students can then take the certification test and apply for admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching program offered through the James I. Perkins College of Education at SFA.
General Electives
The student may be required to complete additional elective hours to complete the degree. University Core Curriculum co-requisite lab hours will be applied to this area of the degree.
Grade Requirements
- A grade of at least C in each freshman English course (ENGL 1301 , ENGL 1302 )
- A C average in work completed in the major field
- A C average in work completed in the minor field
The required averages are based on those SFA courses taken in each category that are included in the student’s official degree plan (CAPP). Transfer and advanced placement coursework are not included in GPA calculations.
