The content emphasis graduate program is a 36-hour plan designed especially for individuals who teach in departmentalized or middle school classrooms. Courses may be selected from many content fields that support the knowledge base for specific teaching assignments. Additionally, the program includes advanced study of educational research, discipline and the significant characteristics of learners. A 12-hour option allows specialization in one of the following areas: reading, ESL, bilingual, and early childhood.

Academic Content (12 hours)
- Twelve graduate credit hours from one area or combinations of the following subjects: art, biology, chemistry, Earth science, economics, English, geography, geology, German, history, mathematics, music, kinesiology, physics, political science, reading, special education, and foreign language.
Education Electives
- Choose 12 credits from ECH, ELE, RDG, or MLG courses
